Steve Jackson Games is back with another exciting addition to its beloved Munchkin franchise, this time diving into the cyberpunk fantasy world of Shadowrun. For the first time ever, players can merge the hilarious, backstabbing fun of Munchkin with the gritty, high-tech future of Shadowrun in the upcoming release, Munchkin Shadowrun.
What to Expect from Munchkin Shadowrun
In this new version, players will encounter classic Munchkin gameplay but with a Shadowrun twist. The game includes:
- 193 cards, with 177 Door and Treasure cards, along with 10 Matrix cards and 6 player cards
- A custom six-sided die
- Six standies with plastic stands and character tokens
- A gameboard and cardboard insert tray
Players will face off against trolls, orks, elves, and dwarves in a futuristic world where hacking, dodging corporate control, and forming temporary alliances are all part of the fun. Munchkin Shadowrun also introduces a new Matrix track, where players can hack their way to victory—adding a whole new strategic layer to the gameplay.
When Can You Play?
The game will be available for pre-order starting September 30, 2024, via Warehouse 23, Steve Jackson Games’ official online store. A full release is set for October 16, 2024, just in time for fall gaming nights.
