Wesley Snipes Breaks Multiple Guinness World Records

Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes, the iconic actor known for his role as Blade, has recently broken multiple Guinness World Records, adding yet another feather to his cap. According to Deadline, Snipes achieved records for:

  • Longest Career as a Live-Action Marvel Superhero: Reflecting his enduring legacy in the superhero genre over the last 26 years and now beating out Hugh Jackman’s 24 years as Wolverine.
  • Longest Gap Between Character Appearances in Marvel Films: A record previously held by Alfred Molina (17 years between Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Wesley Snipes last played Blade in Blade: Trinity (2004), 20 years ago!

Wesley Snipes Didn’t Think a Blade Return Was Possible

I didn’t think he would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it. Disney was into it. And also because they had Mahershala [Ali], you know, cast for the next upcoming version of it. So, it didn’t make sense to me.

Snipes’ portrayal of Blade in the late ’90s and early 2000s not only set the stage for modern superhero films but also cemented his place in cinematic history. His return as the character in Deadpool & Wolverine was not expected as the thought was this third outing for Deadpool would pay homage to the Fox universe of Marvel characters. Blade and its sequel were originally distributed by New Line Cinema.
