Film Promo: Day of Disappearance

by Kevin M. Gallagher, Jr on August 29, 2022

We’re still in August, but with school starting back up for many kids this week, we’re officially getting ready to say goodbye to the summer. Which, yes, is kind of a bummer; but there is a silver lining. SPOOKY SEASON IS UPON US! The purpose of fall is to build to one moment—Halloween. Now, while I do love going trick or treating with my kids, the real joy of Halloween is all the wonderful movies that release during the season. Whether they are traditional horror movies like Scream or the aptly named Halloween, or a thriller like The Silence of the Lambs; spooky movies are part of the fall season. And I’m excited to share today’s promo with y’all as a way to ring in the spooky season unofficially!

The disturbing new documentary that counts down to the final David Hall YouTube video…

In short, Day of Disappearance is about a young man by the name of David Hall that launched a YouTube vlog on September 29th, 2019. The final video on the account was streamed/posted on December 2nd… just over two months later. Hall hasn’t been seen since. This movie is a collection of those videos from his channel. To raise awareness and, ideally, locate David, they are being edited and released in this manner. You can still view the original, uncut, and dated videos on David’s YouTube channel.

To elaborate a bit more, Hall seemingly moved from Arizona to Hilo, HI to attend the University of Hawaii. The first few videos detail his arrival and settling into his new home before he was to start school in January. These range from showing off his new home to visiting the University and other sightseeing adventures. There are a few hints here and there in these early videos that there’s something eerie going on, but life is largely normal for dear ol’ David until mid-October. After finding a pendant in his cave adventure, things get progressively eerier.

The trailer above ramps up the eerieness and I’m excited to see how the film gets cut together from the nearly 4 and half hours of footage that’s on this YouTube channel. You can pre-order Day of Disappearance on iTunes now and it’ll be available on September 4th! Head to finddavidhall.com for more information.
