Filthy Rich Lawyers: The Real Winners in Class-Action Litigation
Filthy Rich Lawyers, Book One: The Education of Ryan Coleman, by Brian Felgoise, a class-action attorney with more than 25 years of experience, is a satirical legal thriller that is based on his real-world experiences with attorneys, judges, and plaintiffs.
I laughed out loud at the salty wisecracks on most every page. But underneath the lightning-paced humor is a serious message about corruption in class action litigation. Filthy Rich Lawyers is a hilarious satire about a very real problem.Matt Flynn, author of Milwaukee Jihad
Ryan Coleman, a young, aspirational attorney from Philadelphia, is pursuing his part of a class-action case involving a global defense contractor when the story opens in a Texas courtroom. Coleman encounters Robert Smalley, a smart lawyer, and potential felon who boasts that “I have the best practice of law in the world since I have no clients,” after getting punished by the judge for speaking out of turn.
And with that, Filthy Rich Lawyers, Book One: The Education of Ryan Coleman, the latest legal thriller from Brian Felgoise and David Tabatsky, draws Coleman into a hedonistic world of riches and power.
The cast of colorful characters includes Randy Hollis, a crazily successful lawyer turned multi-billionaire who is pursuing his ultimate American dream: purchasing a professional football team, and Eugenia “Gene” Cauley, a female shark in the male-dominated legal world whose life spirals tragically out of control. Coleman is hired as Hollis’ “errand boy,” but while Hollis is under investigation by media outlets, legal groups, and government officials, Coleman must decide if he wants to stay in this murky world.
Due to past animosity, federal prosecutor Patrick Coyle seeks to bring down Hollis. He teams up with former defense secretary and CEO of a military contractor Dick Dickey to bring down Hollis and Coleman. When an escort inexplicably passes away in Hollis’ penthouse, Coleman unwittingly becomes involved and is forced to make a decision between protecting his boss and maintaining his marriage or coming clean and risking going to jail.
In Filthy Rich Lawyers, it is shocking how our class-action legal system allows (mainly) males to become obscenely wealthy and act like sophomoric frat boys.
Brian Felgoise
How they use their money and power will shock, amuse and entertain readers. As media billionaire Mortimer Zuckerman once said, referring to some lawyer’s self-indulgence and unbridled hubris, ‘Practicing law is the exact opposite of sex. Even when it’s good, it’s bad.’

First and foremost, Kev is a dad to three wonderful children. He’s also an uber Kevin Smith fan (all Smith’s movies are worth a watch, even Yoga Hosers) who has cried during Kermit’s monologue in The Muppets and once owned two VHS copies of Spice World. He loves all pop culture, particularly the MCU and Star Wars. The Evil Dead franchise is his favorite horror franchise, though the original Scream is his favorite scary movie. He bleeds Eagle’s green in the (suburbs of the) greatest city on Earth, Philadelphia. Go Birds!
