Greetings, travelers! We’ve got an awesome trip into the Otherworld planned for you today, but beware, it’s not for the faint of heart. What would you do if everything in your life went horribly awry, and in a moment of weakness, you prayed for any help, even at the cost of your soul? That’s what we’re exploring in today’s promo for A Favour for the Devil. Read on to learn more.
Horror aficionado, Garry Duncan, puts his love for the genre front and center in his debut, A Favour for the Devil. It’s a dive into the madness one can find themselves trapped with if they’re willing to let go of the better sides of themselves. Throughout the entirety of the book, readers will bear witness to multiple people coming to terms with their actions. And Duncan doesn’t just allude to the things that are promised to his main character. We get to see as they come to pass. This reimagined version of Dundee, Scotland, is rich with detail, and feels like another character of its own. The author has great attention to detail, and leaves his audience feeling like they’re watching the scenes as they unfold.
Liam Donaldson is a thirty-four-year-old recluse, disillusioned with life. Isolated and living in poverty, with no friends and no romantic connection in years, he’s finally reached breaking point.
Dave Cornell, by contrast, seems to have it all: a beautiful wife, twin daughters, a successful career, a big house, and a flashy car. But beneath the surface, Dave carries a dark and tragic past—one that constantly threatens to destroy everything he’s worked so hard to build.
What brings these two old friends back together? A deal with the Devil, of course.
In a moment of desperation, Liam calls out to the Devil. To his shock, the Devil answers—and offers him everything he’s ever wanted. There’s just one catch: to claim his new life, Liam must kill Dave Cornell. And he has seven days to do it…or face the consequences.
Every step of the way, readers will watch as Duncan’s cast of characters struggle with their past, or with their fate. It’s one of those books that you can’t tear yourself away from, because you always want to know what happens next. While there feels like there might be light at the end of the tunnel in some places, the author is adept at snuffing out any flickers of hope at the most opportune time. It doesn’t feel like a rug pull, but a logical conclusion. That said, the book comes with its fair share of surprises as well. If you’d like to see how these unfortunate souls fare, there’s no better time than now to dive in. Check out A Favour for the Devil, by Garry Duncan, on Amazon today!
Note: For the sake of transparency, I want readers to know that I was the editor for this book. Garry was a great storyteller to work with, and I couldn’t wait to see what would transpire between Liam and the people he connected with. I’m excited for the next book that I can explore from this talented new writer. Keep your eyes out!
